Chelsea McTavish

Trauma, Self-Harm, Grief for children/families, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy/ Attachment therapy.

Hello, my name is Chelsea McTavish and I am currently accepting new clients. Taking the first steps towards seeing a counsellor can be very scary and I am honoured you are choosing to work with me. I believe counselling is like exercise for the mind. When we engage in our practices it helps to build stronger coping skills, strengthen our identity and overall help us to function better. I have been working as a counsellor since 2015 when I began working on the crisis phone lines at Klinic. Since then I have upgraded my education and taken further training in areas such as Trauma, Self-Harm, Grief for children and families, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Attachment therapy. I also went back to school to complete my undergrad in Human Ecology, specializing in Family Studies and then on to complete my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology in 2019. I also have experience travelling to different Reserves in Manitoba counselling communities, families and children. These experiences have allowed me to meet so many incredible and resilient people, whom I continue to learn from along the way. I specialize in working with children and families, but also enjoy working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, self harm, 2SLGBTQ+ and sexual abuse.
