Mark Berkowitz received his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba in 1994. He has participated in many certificate and upgrading programs, and continues to enhance his education whenever possible. Recently, Mark completed a certificate program in Divorce Mediation at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His professional experience encompasses many responsibilities related to child welfare and crisis intervention, and he has vast experience dealing with child abuse and family assessments.

Mark Berkowitz started his private practice in February of 1991. He specializes in several forms of child and family therapy. Mark also offers consultation services to individuals and institutions, family and couple counselling, and therapy for First Nations communities. Through the First Nation and Inuit Health Branch Mental Health Program, Mark has provided counselling in First Nations communities such as Pukatawagan, Peguis and Jackhead as well as to First Nations members residing in Winnipeg. Mark also works with survivors of the Indian Residential School system. Issues addressed in therapy include child sexual abuse, adult survivors of sexual abuse, spousal abuse, anger management, issues of loss and separation, and poor self image.

Mark provides therapy to children and adults through Employee Assistance programs (EAP), the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program, and mandated child welfare agencies. Counselling fees may be covered through Extended Health Care Benefits.

Mark has completed over 400 court ordered custody and access, guardianship and mobility assessments and has appeared as an expert witness before the Queen's Bench several times. In addition, Mark has completed Parent Capacity assessments for mandated Child and Family Services agencies. In the past, Mark was a consultant to the Andrews Street Aboriginal Head start Program - Oshki Majahitowiin. As a consultant to this program the following services were delivered: workshops for participants, staff training, home visits and individual/play therapy. In January 2008, Mark began delivering mediation services with Ms. Audra Bayer of Audra M. Bayer Law Corporation (a law practice providing legal services through Audra M. Bayer Law Corporation) through the Child Focused Resolution Centre.
