Art Therapist
Svetlana is a registered art therapist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She works with children and families using a relational, creative, and developmentally informed approach. She believes in the healing and growth potential of the arts and integrates creative expression as a way to support emotional regulation, communication, confidence, and healthy relationships.
Her work is grounded in the understanding that behaviour is a form of communication, and that meaningful change develops through safety, trust, consistency, and connection. In therapy, she combines warmth and acceptance with clear structure and boundaries, helping children build skills in emotional awareness, self-regulation, frustration tolerance, and problem-solving in a developmentally appropriate way.
Sessions are tailored to each child’s needs and may include art-making, play-based therapy, storytelling, puppetry, sensory activities, games, and other forms of expressive and experiential work. She also collaborates with caregivers, schools, and other supports to help generalize therapeutic gains into everyday environments.
Svetlana holds a background in psychology and education and has completed advanced training in art and expressive therapies. She is a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and the Canadian Art Therapy Association.
Her practice is guided by the belief that creative expression helps individuals access inner strengths, develop resilience, and experience themselves as capable, connected, and valued.
